Can the port opening be placed anywhere?
Anywhere you have 3 1/2 x 6 1/2" of material to work with. We concentrate on the upper right chest because that's what is common for pediatric chemotherapy. But it's not exclusive. We modify in other areas by special requests.
What is clothing with care?
We had been making Wonderful Onesies for two and a half years when the nephrology department at OHSU asked us to modify some clothing for their patients. We separate those items with a program we call Clothing With Care.
Why don't use plain white onesies and one color so that Wonderful Onesies would have a uniform appearance?
Because we're not robots. We enjoy matching onesies to our stashes of fabric. It's fun to shop for new and vibrant patterns. And we're sewists. Each garment we turn out is our work product. We can spot which onesies we've sewn from other sewists work. It's weird, but true.
What if there's a onesie donated that we know will never be a Wonderful Onesie?
It happens. Someone was just adamant that a kimono style onesie eliminated the need for our efforts. What this lone wolf failed to understand is that while kimonos give the impression of tying on one side; they are, in fact, double-breasted. You can't access one side of the chest without exposing the whole chest area. Do that and we might as well go back to just diapers
